fashion and soccer, the two seem worlds apart and only occasionally united through the wag phenomenon, measured out in detail in the tabloids. but now the boys themselves have increasingly become aware of their looks and flaunt it like beckham - pretty much a setting the trend early on in this specific demographic - whenever they can. london's arsenal football club has teamed up with lanvin, the oldest fashion house in paris, as its official tailor. lanvin homme will dress key representatives of the club, including manager arsène wenger and first-team players. the brand's stylish suits will be worn by each member of the squad when on official club appearances, including all home matches in the barclays premier league and uefa champions league.
lanvin homme is designed by lucas ossendrijver, chief menswear designer, and the official wardrobe combines the classic style both arsenal and lanvin are renowned. the arsenal crest is stylishly emblazoned on the front of the jacket in gold and the choice of material for the suits consists of Italian super 110 in midnight blue. a slim fit shirt in white cotton poplin with a small collar and double cuffs will be accessorised with a red silk tie or a handmade red silk bow tie for more formal occasions. a pair of black derby shoes, a black silver-buckled belt and a pair of cufflinks engraved with the famous arsenal cannon add the finishing touches. this collab is the first of its kind for both arsenal and lanvin, and will last for two seasons until 2015.
