© boxpark - the planet's first pop-up mall is in the making
something supercool is looming on the horizon in london that's indicative of the city's creative power and innovation, and will put all pop-up stores on the planet to shame along the way. we're talking the boxpark pop-up mall. yes, pop-up mall! a collab initiative of british brand guru roger wade and real estate developers hammerson and ballymore, it's an initiative that will further boost shoreditch's status as the city's new hipster hub. the plan is as simple as it is appealing to the targeted demographic, using stripped and refitted shipping containers to create unique, low-cost and also low-risk 'box shops'.
these shops are to be occupied by a unique mix of carefully selected british and international lifestyle brands and fashion designers, art galleries and cafés, creating the planet's very first pop-up mall [so named because it's all inherently moveable, and there are plans to set up shop elsewhere!]. boxpark is scheduled to open late october and, although labeled a pop-up venue, will be operational for five years. more news later, but in the meantime check out the video below. location: corner shoreditch high street + bethnal green road [shoreditch]
