55dsl have launched studio55, a new platform for creativity that showcases great creative works and help promote new talents to a worldwide network. the very first exhibition series has just kicked off in japan, featuring the works by japanese graphic artist esow. the title of the show is gakyoucyuunen, and is derived from comes from the artist katsushika hokusai’s pseudonym gakyou roujin, which means 'old man mad about painting'. esow’s works in downtown tokyo and his art is very much street-inspired, masterfully mixing japanese sensitivity with elements of street culture and graffiti from abroad. curated by red one press, the artist has crafted a series of exclusive art works which is currently on display at the 55dsl store in tokyo [on through jun 30]. the show will also launch in nagoya on wed - apr 17 and in kobe on thu - apr 18. to celebrate the launch of studio55's japan debut a special t-shirt designed by esow is available at 55dsl stores in japan. tokyo location [1]: 4-27-4 jingumae [harajuku]. nagoya location [2]: 3-28-30 sakae [naka-ku]. kobe location [3]: 3-3-4 shimoyamate [chuo-ku].
