pow! wow! director + artist jasper wong knows a thing or two about urban art. having launched a much-talked about event in honolulu with spin-off editions abroad and a gallery in hong kong, he has become the man to go to when in need of a professional urban art fix. and that's exactly what versace did when opening its first flagship store in the city. the italian fashion brand wanted to make their new presence felt with out of the ordinary statement: a gigantic mural on the side wall of ala moana center, the upscale mall and location of its new boutique. wong enlisted world-renowned street artist tristan eaton to create his own interpretation of the iconic medusa, the longtime symbol of the versace brand. painted over a period of five days, eaton employed his unique aesthetics to create an exuberant masterpiece that encompasses all the elements of signature versace patterns and a variety of textures and styles. location: ala moana center, 1450 ala moana boulevard [waikiki].
