honolulu: the waikiki edition opening

sunny honolulu is the setting of the first property of new boutique hotel brand edition. a collab venture of ian schrager and marriott, it combines the visionary hotelier's personal, individualized hotel experience with the hotel chain's operational expertise. the the waikiki edition is set in its own carefully landscaped private oasis with various pools right next to waikiki beach. upon entering the property, guests are immediately wooed by an inviting ambiance with cool contemporary aesthetics. leading design practice yabu pushelberg cooked up a lobby interior with natural forms and sculpted shapes, and incorporated a wall-to-wall surfboard installation. an elongated lobby bar furnished with comfy sofas, a bookcase and art installations, forms the social epicenter and relax zone within the ground floor space. needless to say that the contemporary design extends further to each of the hotel's 353 rooms. all have floor-to-ceiling windows that provide spectacular views of the city, yacht harbor, and the pacific ocean. a staircase leads from the lobby up to the pools, a private inland beach, bars, lush tropical gardens with palm trees, an outdoor movie theater and the morimoto gourmet fusion restaurant. in sync with the healthy lifestyles of its guests, the the waikiki edition offers its guests surf + bikini boot camps for them to firm up, lose weight and inches, but also have fun and rebuild their vitality. additionally, guests can partake in yoga, biking, hiking and customized spa menus. you know what? we so wanna go! location: 1775 ala moana boulevard [ala moana]. © edition
