we're guessing it comes with the trade, but fabrice aeberhard and christian kaegi have a clear vision where to go next. and quite literally so. the founders of viu, a swiss eyewear brand which pairs sleek design with product and service innovation, was already successful on home turf, and only recently started expanding to the fertile shopping grounds of neighbouring germany. after setting up shop in munich and berlin – both at off-the-beaten-track locations that seem to reflect the its quirky business concept – another stunning retail space has been added in hamburg. situated in harvestehude, a leafy residential neighbourhood just north of this major port city's historic center, the store features an interior design by the aforementioned duo. upon entering the premises, shoppers find themselves sandwiched between viu's signature eyewear walls. extended towards the far end, they're embedded in a monochrome palette of whitewashed concrete flooring and ceiling. furnishings are matchingly sparse, and merely comprise of sleek metal stools and framed campaign visuals. going up a flight of stairs, a compact mezzanine floor unfolds where an additional display and seating section can be found. the new viu boutique carries the brand's full range of prescription frames and sunglasses. location: eppendorfer baum 14 [harvestehude].
