last month el nuevo museo de arte contemporáneo [numu] opened in guatemala city. a collab project by artists stefan benchoam and jessica kairé, the initiative springs from the total lack of museums in guatemala, and supports, exhibits and documents contemporary local and international art. its physical space measures approximately 2 x 2.5 meters and has the shape of an egg as it was originally built for an egg-selling street vendor. the opening makes el nuevo museo de arte contemporáneo the first museum in nationwide that's exclusively dedicated to contemporary art. the venue's inaugural exhibition is a personal showcase by costa rican painter federico herrero. click [here] to connect with the museum on facebook. location: diagonal 6 15-80 [zona 10].
