following a much publicized collab three years ago, g-star and vitra have launched a second series of stunning furniture pieces that were originally designed by french architect jean prouvé [1901-1984]. the pieces had been created by prouvé in the 1940s for the offices of major french industrial companies. quite similar to g-star's very own creative vision, the frenchman showed constructive logic and strict utilisation of honest industrial materials, and these values correspond well with its new headquarters in amsterdam which has been designed by starchitect rem koolhaas. in cooperation with the prouvé family, vitra has adapted the architect’s furnishings to meet today’s office norms and needs, while teaming up with g-star art directgoirs to develop colours and details.
as part of this project, single and double workstations, conference tables, office chairs and several other furniture pieces, dubbed the prouvé raw office edition, were issued exclusively for the dutch denim brand. this has been another meticulously developed range of designs, featuring several industrial shades of green, leather and fabric upholstery materials, and other details that pay tribute to the origins of these furnishings. made of steel and solid wood, the tables, chairs and cabinets in the collection bears witness to a bygone industrial age. the prouvé raw office edition includes ten different designs, including office chairs, lamps and desks, and will be available at vitra showrooms across the planet until the end of 2016.
