global: port magazine launch

image: cover of port magazine's launch issue, featuring actor daniel day-lewis just when we thought the world is saturated with men's style magazines, a new one emerges. we're talking the launch of port, a quarterly magazine based out of london, and run by editor dan crowe, formerly at another magazine, and creative directors kuchar swara and matt willey. the idea to establish the publication spawned from the trio's notion that men's magazines have become tedious and lack originality. so what's port offering today's savvy males then? very simple: it aims to be an intelligent, stylish magazine with an added-value perspective of today's world, covering topics such as fashion, travel, design and living, architecture, literature, entertainment and also global issues. the launch issue features a few illustrious names, including writer will self, top chef fergus henderson and cover man daniel day-lewis who contributed with an essay on his trip to gaza. port has an initital print run of 60,000 copies and will be available at select bookstores in the u.k., u.s.a., south america and asia. view the video below for more info.
