photo: korean air's dashing new airbus a380 thumbs up to korean air! as of the end of next month the seoul-based carrier will introduce the planet's very first in-flight duty free store, onboard its new airbus a380, the largest passenger aircraft ever built. crafted by cosmetics firm lancôme, the boutique consists of five specially designed units, each designated for cosmetics, luxury jewellery or advertising space for these products. manufacturers of these products can buy space for their products in any these units. the in-flight duty free store takes up a total of 13 passenger seats and although this means a loss of passenger revenue, korean air is confident that the sale of high-end duty free products and product space will more than offset the revenue lost from these seats. the first of 10 of these aircraft that the airline has ordered will initially fly the high-density traffic route from the korean capital to tokyo, and then gradually be introduced on flights to bangkok, hong kong, los angeles and new york.
