in 1992 fashion brand dkny put up a giant wall ad, capturing the manhattan skyline, at houston street and broadway that would not only mark the entrance to soho, but also become a new york city icon for nearly two decades. inspired by this ad dkny brings the iconic logo back, completely reimagined with the #dknyartworks project. ten talented young artists in ten major cities across the planet have been commissioned to create original artwork, framed within the letters of the dkny logo by reinterpreting the iconic soho wall ad through their own unique artistic perspective. the #dknyartworks project is a collection of outdoor art installations that has been designed to connect the brand and art within the hubs of new york, london, paris, milan, dubai, kuwait, hong kong, shanghai, seoul and tokyo.
each original work captures an artistic expression of the new york city skyline within the frame of the dkny logo, and bringing new york to the world. the group of participating artists includes how & nosm, christophe hamaide-pierson, sasan nasernia, junkhouse and yamaguchi soichi. mind you, eight art works from the program will be auctioned off to benefit free arts nyc, an organisation which provides under-served children and families with educational arts and mentoring programs. as of today bidding will be available through online auction house paddle8, and ends on sat - jun 29 with an auction event at the montauk beach house in montauk.
