bucharest: balkanology

we all know what happened in eastern europe in the political sense after the demise of communism. a much lesser known consequence is the transformation of urban structures and new forms of urbanization in that part if the world. the exhibition balkanology - new architecture and urban phenomena in southeast europe at the mnac sheds light on the topic. the show elaborates on how architects, urbanists and activists engage with the rapid processes of urban transformation in a context of their cultural, social and political dimensions in the balkan countries. on display are interesting examples from the cities of belgrade, bucharest, kotor, pula, priština, sofia, tirana and zagreb [on until nov 15]. this show is part of the bucharest architecture biennale. location: palaţul parlamentului, wing e4, calea izvor 2-4 [downtown]. © mnac
