streetwear brand ksubi expands on home turf, opening an adventurous new retail space in brisbane. the so-called kontemporary or modern art store isn't about ksubi's coveted apparel only, but also features an interesting cross-pollination with contemporary art. as such, it collaborates with the james street initiative and the city's institute of modern art [ima] to launch new artists each month. the store interior is austere, merely featuring white walls, a concrete floor and two different sets of simple but stylishly sleek clothing racks. the store currently carries ksubi's complete high summer collection, in addition to select pieces from the brand's kustom program and 2012 eyewear collection. to celebrate the opening, the new store showcases a timely large-scale work by queensland artist richard bell. the ima space on the mezzanine floor currently features artist robin hungerford's intriguing like a hole in the head video series. location: shop rw 2, 26 james street [fortitude valley].
