berlin: never gonna give you up

opening today [8pm] at 032c magazine's gallery space in mitte is british fashion photographer alasdair mclellan's exhibition never gonna give you up. presented by the magazine's editor-in-chief joerg koch, the show features portraits from mclellan's lads photo series [2001-2011]. these are portraits of young male locals from his hometown of doncaster, infused with the strange pallor and virility of the region. appropriately, mclellan counts his fellow northerner morrissey among his major influences. both emerged from a background of an english realism as outspoken as it is full of longing. mclellan is a veteran contributor to 032c, where he has published both fashion editorials and portrait series – often provocatively blurring the line between the two. a homo-erotic showcase? hell, yes. location: brunnenstrasse 11 [mitte].
