berlin: helmut newton polaroids

helmut newton's highly erotic aesthetics have left an indelible mark on the contemporary photography landscape, and continues to inspire many of today's budding talents. currently on at berlin's museum für fotografie is helmut newton polaroids, a fascinating exhibition showcasing over 300 works based on the master's original polaroids that offer a comprehensive overview of this aspect of his work elaborate oeuvre. as newton once described in an interview, a polaroid satisfied his impatient urge to want to know immediately how a certain situation would look as a photograph. so the polaroids served as a sketch of sorts, in addition to using them to test the lighting situation and image composition [on through nov 20]. location: jebensstrasse 2 [charlottenburg].
