during the past eight years darklands has become a fixture in berlin's retail scene, carving a niche for itself as the preferred address in town of forward men's fashion. a nomadic store concept, it keeps its clientele on its toes with savvy offerings at adventurous retail locations. the store recently relocated once again, and its latest digs is a spectaculour space at the heidestrasse complex, home to some of the city's leading contemporary art galleries. measuring a staggering 660 sqm. [7,104 sq.ft.], it's located in a hangar with the obvious utilitarian elements exposed and a fitting backdrop for the avant-garde collections on display. expanding its scope, darklands now also carries matching womenswear collections. the brand list currently includes men's items by the viridi-anne, ann demeulemeester, rick owens, boris bidjan saberi and damir doma, and women's labels include thimister, carol christian poell, ma+, ugo cacciatori and obscur. a temporary installation by paris-based designer yohan serfaty is currently on display, to be followed by a special showcase by sruli recht next october. location: heidestrasse 46-52, building 7 [tiergarten].
