puma is one of the foreign brands that already has a sizeable retail network across india. still expanding in this fast-growing market, it has recently launched a uniquely sustainable store, and where else but in the country's hi-tech capital of bengaluru. located in the affluent suburb of indiranagar, it measures a very spacious 800 sqm. [8,611 sq.ft.] and has been locally developed and sourced. the store incorporates a number of revolutionary and innovative design elements to ensure major energy savings as well as environmentally friendly sourcing practices. these precautions include recycled steel from old dvd players, constructing an insulating building shell to avoid the use of air-conditioning, the use solar power for electricity and sourcing recycled wood for the store's furniture and fixtures. the lower levels of the puma store are dedicated to retail while a puma social club café + bar will open on the top floor and terrace later this year.
so, what's on the shelves? next to the regular puma collections, it stocks a range of products from the puma wilderness collection, a collection primarily sourced and produced in africa, using sustainable materials. and for the first time in india, the store also introduces bring me back, an in-store recycling program for footwear, apparel and soft accessories. totally in-sync with the store concept the opening party was a jolly and carbon-neutral affair with all the energy consumed being produced by guests through pedal power and a special bicycle generator. this store is part of the brand's aim to become the planet's most desirable and sustainable sportlifestyle company. we say, it's clever thinking. location: 100 feet road [indiranagar].
