starch is a beirut-based foundation, launched in 2008 by fashion designer rabih kayrouz, creative consultant tala hajjar and the omnipotent solidere corporation that rebuilt huge chunks of the city's downtown area. the foundation aims to provide a platform for emerging lebanese designers, and supports an annual program and rotation of debut collections that accommodate four to six young designers. these budding talents will be guided through the process of developing their own collections, as well as necessary activities such as marketing, branding and press. a related project of the foundation is the starch boutique, and it so happens that it has just reopened, featuring a revamped, industrial-chic interior and apparel, jewellery and furniture offerings by starch's newest crop of designers: bashar assaf, hussein bazaza, céline der torossian, sevag dilsizian and stéphanie moussallem. location: saifi village [saifi].
