maripol is a multi-tasking creative who was a fixture in the 1980s nightlife scene of new york city. well-connected in the hipster community she hardly missed a party - well, at least not the notable ones - where she rubbed shoulders with many an emerging star. armed with a polaroid sx-70 camera, she spontaneously shot a slew of famous and famous-to-be faces who have influenced pop culture as we know it today. station beirut, a new venue dedicated to cool cultural events in the lebanese capital, currently hosts maripolarama, an exhibition which presents a series of photographs by maripol from this happening era [on through oct 20]. the showcase is part of the program of last month's beirut art fair. location: opposite beirut art center, rue 90 [jisr al wati].
