while in this digital day and age an online presence is essential for just about any brand, the appeal and convenience of a brick and mortar store is still hard to beat. but then again, a physical store is more than a sales platform, it's a place where to get to know your customers and engage with them face to face. amsterdam-based brand travelteq concocts – as its name already hints – a well-crafted range of travel essentials that pair artisanal italian craftsmanship with modern design, and the company's operations have just come full circle. following exclusive online sales, travelteq has dipped its toe in the pool of physical retail, opening its first store in the historic heart of the dutch capital.
tucked away in the canal district, the store is situated on the premises of the travelteq office and showroom. it's a location you'd previously pass by unknowingly, but since its retail extension bowed, a nifty new sign proudly beckons shoppers from afar. the store occupies a narrow yet lofty entrance corridor that leads to the workspace. the setting is simple and functional, featuring an elongated shelving system on one side, while the opposite all loosely ties in travelteq's digital presence, depicting matching drawings by young dutch illustrator lennard kok. the travelteq store presents a selection of the its product range, mostly briefcases, duffel bags and suitcases. the brand is already plotting further retail expansion, initially on home turf, but locations abroad are also being evaluated. location: kerkstraat 67 [centrum].
