amsterdam: scars & other remnants

opening today [5pm] at prince claus fund gallery is scars & other remnants, an exhibition by vietnamese multimedia artist + prince claus fund laureate dinh q. lê . the artist grew up during the vietnam war but emigrated with his family to the u.s. at the age of ten. while studying at new york's school of visual arts he was heavily influenced by the hollywood interpretation of his native vietnam. when he later returned there, he continued his research of this distorted reality. dinh q. lê developed an intricate artistic vocabulary that combines traditional vietnamese crafts, traditions, history and realities. on display is a variety of his work, including the damaged genes installation and the south china sea pishkun digital animation [on until mar 18]. location: herengracht 603 [centrum]. © prince claus fund / dinh q. lê - the infrastructure of nationalism [2009]
