amsterdam: redlight art

the amsterdam city council wants the city to clean up its act and settle for a reputation more in tune with modern and politically correct times. one of its main targets is prostitution and the many whorehouses in the inner city. last year saw the launch of redlight fashion amsterdam, a project in which former canalside brothels purchased by the city council were given to emerging dutch fashion designers. launching thu - jan 22 is a similar project, this time aiding visual artists. dubbed redlight art amsterdam, there’ll be a string of presentations across the canal district. meet creative bohemians bagua jody and rachel brennecke, who partake in this project. the duo open their artist-in-residence spot this very day as well [4pm-9pm]. location: bergstraat 4 [centrum].
