onitsuka tiger relocated its store to bigger and more exposed premises in amsterdam's scenic canal district, and introduces the brand's new retail aesthetics along the way. the interior design still very much reflects the brand's japanese heritage, but in a drastically updated and sleeker version that also reflects modern japan. upon entering the store shoppers are met by brightly lit minimalist shelves in glossed finishes, anchored by refined bamboo flooring which extends all the way to the back of the store. subtle japanese knick-knacks dot the interior, mixed with playful seasonal graphics housed in plexi-glass. interestingly, the modern design incorporates the building's original wooden beams as a reference to onitsuka tiger's cultural commitment to craftsmanship and dedication to detail. the japan factor peaks in the back of the store where a two-level wood-paneled atrium of sorts has been constructed as a special showcase for the brand's extensive footwear collection. the new store carries onitsuka tiger's full apparel and shoe collections. location: leidsestraat 27 [centrum].
