it's pretty much a transition from the dark into the light. we're talking the renewal of the carhart w.i.p. store in amsterdam's canal district. featuring a design by milan-based architect andrea caputo, a longtime collaborator of the brand who has created a string of shop interiors across europe, the setting pairs the building's original elements with a range of contemporary elements. although the shop windows are sizeable, they don't allow in sufficient natural light throughout the premises. a transparent ceiling and a glass-paneled wall, both back-lit, extend to the far end of the store and provide just the solution. the wall opposite, featuring bare bricks dipped in a white hue, forms the backdrop for a series of sturdy clothes rackes lined up alongs side it. most furnishings have been crafted from polished metal, giving the utilitarian look of the revamped carhartt w.i.p. store a bit of a modern edge. at the back of the store a seating area and a cabinet laden with accessories situated. the renewed carhartt w.i.p. store currently stocks a selection of the brand's a/w 2013 collection. the opening party pulled a mixed crowd of friends, amsterdam influencers and some of the brand's diginitaries, who all enjoyed cocktails, beers and beats by artist + dj elias mazian. location: hartenstraat 18 [centrum].
