painter and stencillist amanda marie hails from colorado where she attended the rocky mountain college of art + design. she creates small works on paper and larger works on canvas for indoor shows, but also paints large scale murals in outdoor, urban and garden settings. amanda marie's use of nostalgic storybook-like imagery is an invitation for viewing allegorical and highly painterly compositions. emblematic of her very graphic work is the use of children and young adults as imagery tools to deliver clever and often subtle messages that straddle a line between comforting and spooky. another recognizable traits in her work is the common use of twin imagery and the consistent use of vintage sewing patterns as backgrounds to inform the compositions of her paintings. following the artist's visit to make her mark on some of the city's derelict industrial buildings along the harbour, she now has a show of paintings and works on paper at the garage in amsterdam, opening there on fri - aug 30 [6pm-9pm] and continuing the following two days [11am-6pm]. this is a private show and it can only be accessed if you click [here].
