abu dhabi: rstw

definitely a pre-taster of great things to come. abu dhabi is bulking up culturally with the prestigious, multi-billion dollar saadiyat island project. next to commercial and residential development, this venture will see the opening of louvre and guggenheim satellite museums, built respectively by starchitects jean nouvel and richard gehry, and is scheduled for completion in 2018. opening on wed - sep 22 at the manarat al saadiyat visitor center is rstw, a must-see, novel exhibition of 72 works of influential art dealer larry gagosian's private art collection. he'll be present at the opening event, and engage in a public chat with curator anne baldassari [6.30pm-8.30pm]. short for rauschenberg, ruscha, serra, twombly, warhol and wool, the rstw exhibition promises to be a stellar showcase of paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photography works that have never been exhibited before, and offers viewers a piece of art history through an exceptional arrangement of forms and techniques. location: saadiyat island. photo: robert rauschenberg's overdrive [1963] will be one of the works on display
